Child Death Review Committee - Week of Aug. 28, 2017

We held a meeting of the Lauderdale County Child Death Review Committee this week in the Grand Jury Room at the courthouse. The CDRC reviews all “unexplained or unexpected” child deaths in our county and provides information to the State Child Death Review System for analysis and determination of whether or not the death was preventable. Team members including a local pediatrician, the coroner, first responders, and representatives from law enforcement participated in the meeting. Special thanks to Richard Burrelson, who traveled from his home in Slapout, Alabama (Elmore County), to assist us with the review. Mr. Burrleson is the State Coordinator for the Alabama Child Death Review System.
