Welcome to Angela Hulsey, ADA. She was sworn in on April 9, 2024 as our newest Assistant District Attorney. Ms. Hulsey brings a wealth of prosecutorial knowledge and experience with her to the Lauderdale County District Attorney's Office. We look forward to working with her!

Angela Hulsey is a 1999 graduate of the University of North Alabama where she graduated with a double major in Political Science and English. After graduating with honors from the University of North Alabama, Angela attended Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi where she completed the three- year law school program in two and one half years. Upon graduating from Mississippi College School of Law in December 2001, Angela began her legal career as a law clerk serving the judges in Colbert County from March 2002 until April 2003.


Having always had a desire to become a trial lawyer, Angela accepted a position as an Assistant District Attorney in the Morgan County District Attorney’s Office in April 2003. In January 2005, she joined the Colbert County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney prosecuting felony and misdemeanor cases in Colbert County Courts. On January 2, 2019, she was promoted to the position of Chief Assistant District Attorney. Within recent years, Angela has successfully prosecuted numerous felony offenses including Capital Murder, Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Violation of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, Robbery in the First Degree, and Kidnapping in the First Degree. She has also conducted numerous trainings for local law enforcement agencies on search and seizure issues and evidence collection for first responders.


In 2009, Angela served as lead prosecutor on the first case of “Chemical Endangerment of a Child that Resulted in Death” tried in the State of Alabama. As a result of the successful prosecution of that case, Alabama law was changed to provide certain protections to babies exposed to drugs and chemical substances prior to birth.


Angela has also served as a member of the Colbert County Multi-Disciplinary Team and currently serves as a board member for the Cramer Children’s Advocacy Center.


Angela is a native of the Shoals Area and is married to Brad Hulsey. The Hulseys have three children. When she is not in court, Angela enjoys spending time with her family.
